Between my blog and FaceBook I am becoming more and more glued to my chair and find myself clicking away on my keyboard too often or should I say way too much! FaceBook constantly callls my name and whispers in my ears that I need to check what everyone is up to and what everyone is talking about. When I first sign up with FB I thought ...wow this is cool...I can now keep up with friends without going out and meeting them for coffee or even lunch. Then I discovered hhhhmmm I can also see how their friends are doing without even knowing them. Pretty cool. Then I realized...Oh wow! I can join in on every ones comments...like in conversation by sharing my thoughts without personally knowing my friends friends ....after all they are right there in front of me. It's just a click away and I can see people's photos where they been and what someone has eaten for breakfast or what they are currently doing. Before you know it I am looking at everyone's vacation photos, baby pictures and party pictures! What am I doing? I should be working on my blog.
So now I have put myself on a timer. After 30 minutes I have to step away and do something else aside from FB! I went even further by only posting the links on my current entries from my blog. I have refrained from clicking on my friends links and stopped sending Beverages, Starbucks, Flairs and became just stoic not to read the 25 Random Things About My Friends. Yep I am currently on a Facebook Diet. When I was signing up, Facebook should have come with some sort of warning. It should have said CAUTION! Before you join you should know that FaceBook is Highly Addictive! Beware. Like it or not you are going to be a voyeur and this magnificent cult is going to consume a lot of your time and if you have scary pictures from high school it will most likely to appear and haunt you.....People that you don't recognized will ask to be your friends and you have the option to ignore them : )
I was doing great for a while. But now I'm on a mild relapse. I am back on again but I know my limitations and my timer has been my friendly reminder that I need to step away so I can regain my energy level & start clicking away again : )
NOTE: If you are "Addicted" to FB or on a FaceBook "Diet" please email your story to me and I'll be sure to publish it here on Teacake Martini for my readers to enjoy : )
